What is the one most significant rule for a healthy diet? Some would allege it's the Five a Day rule. This refers to the government's recommendation that you eat five servings of fruits and vegetables every single day. This sounds reasonable enough, but just about everyone has trouble following this rule!

To keep yourself in this routine think of all the great nutritious values these fruits and veggies hold and how it is helping your body. Think of how they taste great, they have fewer calories than many other items, and they're full of vitamins and minerals as well. They seem to be so perfect for something to snack on and they combine great with meals.

Unlike many other foods preparing fruits and veggies are easy. All they need is a quick rinse and they are ready, this applies to most of the fruits and vegetables.

So how much is the Five a Day recommendation? Looking at the average dietary needs, one is supposed to have two cups of fruit and a half cup of veggies day-to-day. This really isn't difficult to do but you should keep it in mind when grocery shopping, planning out your meals, cooking, and so on.

If you don't wanna follow this rule completely there is this cheat you may drink a serving of 100% fruit juice, but only one serving a day. There is a variety of juices to choose from, orange, apple, pineapple, grape fruit, and so on.

Fruits and Veggies would create great garnishes for meals. You can follow this by cutting slices of fruits in your cereal every morning. You can also take them as a snack; they're very convenient to take to the office and to keep in a backpack. If you have them accessible you're more likely to eat them!

This might get tedious if you do not have a mixture of fruits and veggies. Try new fruits and vegetables as well, ones you haven't ever ate before. Which fruits have you not tried yet? Trying these new fruits will relieve your boredom and then the Five a Day rule will seem easy to you.

Be creative when preparing the meal combine different colored fruits to make it look good enough to eat. Combinations such as grapes with peppers or pineapples are wonderful.

It is necessary to have a great deal of fruits and veggies for the Five a Day plan to be successful. So think of how you can do this every day. Does a homemade pizza with vegetables toppings count? Or you can try a vegetable wrap sandwich, a vegetable stir fry with many different choices, and different pasta dishes as well.

If you're thinking that you just don't have the time to properly prepare fruits and vegetables, remember that there is help for you. Many salad kits are sold today with all the ingredients you need. The only one other thing you need to buy is the low fat salad dressing.

Many restaurants and fast food place have diet or healthy sections in a menu. Some supermarkets at lunch time have great salads at a salad bar.

Another way to follow the Five a Day rule is to use fruits and vegetables as snacks. Apples, bananas, pears, or any other fruits are easy to get. They all taste great and offer excellent nutrition as well. And the natural fructose in these items are nothing like the sugar you'll find many junk food options.

Another good way to keep up with the Five a Day rule is too add as many vegetables as you can in your salad. In a salad some things you could add would be carrots, broccoli green or red peppers, or cucumber. Some fruits would be good to add too such as apples, oranges, and pineapples.

Mixing fruits with other food choices is a nutritious thing to do. Put some berries, bananas, and even apple chunks in your yogurt and cereal or even a bowl of cottage cheese; doing this can help you toward that Five a Day goal.
