If you have got a pond, like me, you will continually be curious as to how you can keep the water cleaner and clearer. Yes, you can keep fishing the leaves, and other trash out but there has got to be a solution that can help, hasn't there? Fortunately, there is! I have uncovered the answer to all of my prayers. It works, and I don't have to make much effort at all. Now my pond is cleaner and clearer than ever before. I can see down to the bottom, and my fish are obviously much happier. As well as that, I have found that newts and other creatures have decided to make my pond their home. So, what is my secret? Well, it is barley straw. Yes, barley straw.

If you have never heard of barley straw before, no worries, neither had I until a few months ago. I was hosting a BBQ when my buddy, who has more of a green thumb than I ever will, suggested that I could make my pond more clear. My first instinct was to argue that my pond was clear. However, one look at it and I really had no argument. So he suggested using barley straw (he prefers lavender barley straw himself). As he said, "My pond has never been more clear, and my fish love it!".

It turns out that he has been using barley straw for a number of years now. He has no idea how it actually works, but there is something in it that helps clear the water of his pond. All he does is place a bale of the straw near his fountain, or other water feature, and it does the rest!

I've made an investment in my water garden and certainly wasnt going to agree to waste my investment without a fight! I was shocked at how low priced it is. Depending on the amount of your water garden

I have to tell you that I couldn't believe my eyes, when I checked on my pond a few days later. It wasn't completely clear, but there was one heck of an improvement. I couldn't believe me eyes. The barley straw had worked! I am sure that there is some scientific explanation as to what is going on, but I don't know it, and I don't really want to. The fact is that barley straw really works for me. All I have to do is place a new bale in the base, near moving water, and let it work its magic. It really is as simple as that.
