Certainly credit cards are of not much use to you in case you are having a good bank balance right now. In verity, credit cards are the most expensive loans that banks, department stores and gasoline companies provide. It doesn¡¦t matter how seductive the offer seems to be.

The temptation of the credit card offers is sometimes so strong that even the most discerning of the people succumb to it. The power of having ready money can overcome all sensibilities. And once the credit card is in the hands, it is impossible to resist the urge to go shopping. Once the offer is made, the person can hardly wait to get the card approved and begin swiping.

But, a word of caution! It is very important to learn to resist with credit cards, and not to indulge in useless shopping. With credit cards, you have a clear picture of how much you will be owing to the card issuer at the end of the month. You must take stock of how much you can pay back at that time, and never go beyond that limit. You must know how to pay off your balances at the end of the month. You must at least pay off the minimum amount on the bill, because if you do not do this, then you become liable to pay hefty sums just as interests on the total outstanding amounts.

There are several of us who just cannot say ¡¥no¡¦ to credit card offers (or to any other offer, for that matter!). A method of saying no here is to extract from the credit card offering companies themselves what they stand to gain by making this offer. Remember that the people who offer credit cards are doing so because they are earning high profits from the companies who are issuing the credit cards. The better the offer, the greater will be the rate of interest on the outstanding bill. In the beginning one does see the convenience the card is offering, but is blinded at what the interests would pile up to in the later stages. Though the bank is making a profit with each credit card issued, the companies that offer credit cards also receive a share of the profit.

Some offering companies will charge an annual fee as a part of the credit card offer. There could be late fees, over-the-limit fees and other miscellaneous charges. There is a great possibility that the applicant might have mistaken these fees as part of the service charges. Now, if you know how much you are paying to the offering companies every time you pay with your credit card, wouldn¡¦t it be easy to say no to them?

Despite knowing how dangerous credit cards are, it is difficult to break away from the habit. But there are some tips you can follow in order to understand the misguiding promises of credit card offering companies, no matter how much overwhelming they are. Before filling out a credit card application, think about the following:-
„X Why are you filling out the application for the card?
„X Why do you need the credit card?
„X Which company offers the best card?

Once you have your needs in the proper order, you can go ahead and find out a card that is best suited to your requirements. But you must not stop with the comparison of a few cards in the market. You must understand the terms that the credit cards are using in their material, and take time to review the disclosures of terms and fees that appear on other credit card offers that haven¡¦t been made to you yet.

Despite all this, if you still find you cannot say no to credit card offers, then the only way out for you is to pay your bills diligently and promptly, so that the interests do not pile up. Also read the monthly statements carefully and compare them with the copies of the receipts of the purchases made by you in the month.

It is almost impossible today not to have a credit card. For this reason alone, it is very important that a person realizes what the significance of having a credit card is. Having a credit card is a responsibility; it is not just a convenience.
