In any event, home remedies suggest putting mayonnaise, peanut butter, grease, etc. etc. on the infected head, leaving it on for 8-10 hours, then trying to clean off the mess only to repeat if necessary. Overall, even if they work they're usually so difficult to successfully use these home cures are at best, a poor head louse treatment strategy.

So decide which treatment option is preferred by you and your child. Be prepared for the other issues however if you chose a head louse treatment plan that's difficult to use or poisonous. Consider that only one category of products, the essential oil products have the best opportunity to get rid of the problem without using poisons. Overall a good choice.
