Link popularity and exchanging links to increase traffic and your website ranking is seen by many people as being no longer a worthwhile exercise. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Link swapping to get extremely targeted traffic into your website is still one of the best ways to go and it improves your search ranking along the way.
In this article I have created a simple four-step guide to boosting your link popularity.
Step #1: Do the research.
All too often people will attempt to exchange links when there is no substantial commonality to do so. Find websites that are not in competition with you and at the very least visited by people that will also visit you website. Just ponder for a moment where visitors that are coming to your site have been before they reach your landing page. Ponder are there other products or services that your visitors may consider buying during or after their time at your website. And this is something that I discussed in this free special report which is available to do with as you wish even selling it for 100% of the profits.
You need to approach these types of websites as often as you can whilst approaching less related sites.
You need to expand your outlook but not to the extent that the search engines will see that the links you are obtaining are irrelevant.
Step #2: Link to them first.
Rather than falling into error you need to place the link to the person you’re contacting on your site first.
In so doing you can prove to them that you’ve already taken the time to create a description, a title and a link to their website. Contact them and direct them to your site.
Step #3: You need to contact them.
Try and be a little different when you contact the person who you are hoping to exchange links with. Keep your email short, and to the point using the word you as often as you can.
Consider phoning them on the notion that by doing so you will stand out from the crowd of other people attempting to do link exchanges.
Step #4: Always follow up.
On average it may take two or three reminders to act on a link exchange. So don’t be put off if somebody doesn’t get back to you immediately. Try sending them another email a week later pointing out to them that their link is still active on your site and you would like them to do likewise for you.
